My Bass This Weekend IN DEPTH

4/19

Alright guys You knew this one was coming.

Clear water Fishing is my Biggest strength because I know fish behavior so well. And When I'm able to see the fish I can Determine from his reaction to certain things What I'll have to do to catch him. But this Fish Gave me little to know hope It was bedding in less then a foot of water, The most skittish yet the smartest fish I've ever came across in my life. The fish was so skittish you could walked up 15 feet away he'd spook, The wind would pick up.. This fish would spook... This Fish had Your not catching me written all over it! But I was determined ! I Started picking apart the puzzle with this fish I cast (I was standing about 25 feet away) Knowing that he'll return cause of it's bed and he swam away... I cast again and left it there And he Knew my Lure was there took 5 minutes slowly swam back seen where i was and watched me but Stayed at least 3 feet away from my lure at all times. thats when I noticed a little log right in front of it's bed, And I got excited! and told myself "I can use this!" So The I started casting to the wall And Hid my lure behind the log, When he'd return to it's bed I'd Slowly twitch it out I mean just getting the tentacles moving slow. (They see as good as we do they notice the details!) He started glancing at it more now and his behavior was telling me he's getting more comfortable and isn't as skittish I have a chance to catch this fish I told myself. About 12 minutes in I was able to cast about 5 feet in front of him ( I have a very soft landing with my lures when i use my bait caster!) And he would stay near the bed and not run off like he normally would. Then I really started Zoning in I Used everything I knew And Tried everything I could, I knew this fish would be mine! I used the log again brought it out slowly he swam closer this time examined the bait... Then took off!... Thats when I determined I need to switch I threw on a light wire jig head With the same lure. I made a cast and dug my hook into the log so he couldn't see it. He swam closer to it examined it and when he would try to start swimming away I'd get the tentacles moving thats when he;d look at it again and his fins started moving faster he was getting more aggressive So I took a gamble and popped it After that he swam a circle around his bed and came up on it once more Thats when I popped it again he hit it I set the hook And the fight was on! He took my drag out and went about 15 feet to my left then took me under the dock, When I brought him up I seen he was barely hooked thats when I jumped down sunburn and all And Lipped this big bad boy! And then the screaming took place!

Fish time: 20-25 minutes
